The classical Madrid tavern used to have a bar made of dark wood, a zinc bar and marble or wood tables. The “Tapas Bars”, old and new, are spread all around Madrid – Tapas only taste good if you are in Spain, don’t accept imitations in any other country, please. An itinerary through these establishments, ideally accompanied by your friends, is one of Madrid’s major attractions. For us Spaniards it is in fact one of our preferred activities, when we have some spare time, either in the morning (for example Sunday mornings in La Latina) or in the evenings (any day will do).
